th8DKUZC66Someone once asked me what was the most surprising thing to have every happen to me. I thought and I thought about that answer. Really, I did do much thought because it seems that nothing really does surprise me.

Except one thing that just leapt out to me. It was about ten years ago, almost to the day. I was at my vacation home that about two hours from my actual home. There I was sitting at the picnic table by my pond I was enjoying a lovely lunch of tuna fish sandwiches, a cucumber salad, and some oatmeal raisins cookies. If I remember right, I was also reading a book, I cannot remember the title of it as of right now but I do remember my best friend telling me about it, she declared it an inspirational tale. Oh how I wished I could remember the title of that book.

Anyway I was swatting enjoying a warm summer breeze and my lunch, when out of nowhere there was a loud crash. I jump up and immediately went towards the sound.

I could not believe what I laid before my eyes. There was a tree laying across my front lawn. It was at the time blocking my driveway and the only way I have out of my vacation home. This means that I am stuck there until I can call a tree care company to come out and remove it.

As I was trying to figure out how I could get around it because I desperately needed to go into town. I need some things for the house, I had pleads of going into town today to gather everything. That way I could spend all my time here at the house, alone up to whatever it is that I want to do.

Now I was stuck, without enough water, food, or general things to live from. As I stood there looking like a sad puppy, I know. A man came lumbering down the dirt road that ran in front of my house. He said he owned the house closest to me and came when he heard a noise.

He then offer to call his cousin who worked for a tree care service and tree removals. Really the only one in the area actually.   Ever so gracious I thanked him, after he rang his cousin; I told him my address and explained what had happen. Because I live in such a remote area of town, he cannot get his crew out to my house for other two or three days at the latest.

Unable to do anything about I resultantly said ok that it was all right. As my neighbor was about to return to his home I ask if he could give me a ride into town. He acquiesced.

As we rode the thirty minutes into town, he told me about his childhood. How long he had owned his house, what he did for a living, really we had a long get to know you session. In addition, surprisingly we had much in common.

My neighbor and I became fast friends. Before I know it, we were engaged and then married. Now ten years later we are still going strong. My surprise was meeting my husband doing a most unfortunate incident…

This is the answer my wife told me one day when we were on a date. I am always surprise by her lack of surprise with everything. Imagine my surprise when she told me it was how we met that was her greatest surprise.

A Day Away

thJGCBQQ7KI cannot believe how very wonderful it was last night. I mean I really, really enjoyed myself. Beyond measure. I think I have found my new tradition for January. I packed my backpack up, stockpiled food and toiletries. I was ready to tackle anything that nature threw at me, no fear just success.

That is right folks last night I drove three hours and forty-five minutes northwest to a campsite, pitched my tenant, then spent the night in natures embrace. It was a night worth having. For weeks, I have wanted to go camping and for weeks, I have been busy, nonstop with any break, full speed ahead. As soon as I knew, I was to have a couple of free days I packed up and drove away.   Just me, alone. Nothing to keep me company except my thoughts, natures’ picture show and my trusty harmonica.

About once or twice a year, I take off by myself to have some me time. I know most people would check into a hotel or resort to enjoy plush amenities and comforts. Not me, do not get me wrong I love these places as well. Since I was young, I have always found that I was most at peace, found the most clarity, and solace when I was in the woods. Surrounded by nature, with nothing to do but enjoy the views and decompress. Yes, it is one of the few things in this world that truly helps me unwind. I do not drink; I do not do drugs, so this is what I take as my elixir.

It was great. Albeit short, it was just what the doctor order.

As soon I got to my site, I pitched my tent. After that, I needed some firewood, so I set off into the woods looking for some dry timber and twigs. Within an hour, I had found my twigs and timber. I built my fire and had it a blazed and roaring.

Then I put on my boots and took to the trails. I had about two hours before nightfall I was able to take advantage of daylight as much as I could. It was beautiful my height. I saw a waterfall, a family of deer feeding in the meadow, and a pond so clear that you could see the rocks and fish on the bottom of the pond. Simply gorgeous.

After my invigorating hike, I returned to tent and started cooking. I knew I would not have time to hunt or fish so I brought a few steaks, some salad fixings, rolls, and a case of water. Cooking over an open fire spit always makes food taste a million times better. I do not know what it is but it is just delightful. If you have never a steak cooked over an open fire, I highly recommend it. Even if you have to do it in the back yard over one of those patios fire pits? Just do it, I am telling you, you will not be disappointed.

The next day I woke brushed my teeth, had breakfast then went on another hike and I took my fishing poll in hopes of catching something for lunch. This time I went in a different direction. Again, I found a natural water source. A river, clear as the day is long.

I waded into the water, through my line out and waited from lunch.

I am telling it was the most fun I have had in ages, I felt so revegetated and ready to take on the world. After I caught my fished, fried it then ate, I packed up, cleared the camp and return home.

One unfortunate day

thEXDG6R8OLast week I had the most unfortunate thing happen to me. I was sipping my tea and watching the life awake for the day in front of my very eyes. One morning. I just so happen to be at my vacation home and I was lost in the splendor of life busying itself with morning activity with a flourish.

There I was sitting on the front porch, sipping my tea taking in all that my eyes could see, when out of nowhere I hear this long bang and a crash. Something like glass being flung onto a cement wall. My home is placed on a hundred acre plot of land that I have inherited from my grandfather. Last year I was able build a small cottage on its land, very whimsical I know, but it is something that I have always desired since I was a young child. As soon as I was able, I stated the drawings then its construction. I call it Parker House after my grandfather who love me so and bestowed upon me this great land.

As I was saying, I heard a loud crash, as I rushed out to see what had happen. Imagine my astonishment that to see that a tree had fallen onto my car. My poor little hybrid was smashed and what I believe to be a goner. At the time I was too shock to feel anything, for what feels like an eternity I just stood there looking at the rumble that once use to be my little go getter. I was shocked beyond measure I assure you.

After I got over my first sight I thank God profusely that, it was not my house nor myself that I was injured. Alternatively, anyone or thing else for that matter. This could have been so much worse than it already is. For that, I am grateful.

However, phone calls had to be made, first to my insurance company to make a claim and see if I am covered for such an act. As it turn out I am, something under “an act of God” does this such thing fall under which I have cover.

Next, I needed to find a tree service or tree cutters to come and removed the tree from my car. My insurance company requires me to take pictures then have they come out; they even recommended a great company. One whom they have been doing business with for years. Huntsville Tree Service. Honest, dependable, and fair. Furthermore they are used to dealing with insurance companies so the who transaction should be easy and without hardship.

After calling the tree service, they were able to come out that very same day and have it removed. Then my insurance will determine what they will do after receiving my images of my car. The agent on the phone has assured me that there should not be a problem with anything.

As my solace seem to have been shattered along with my windshield, I turned to my left and noticed one of the most beautiful sights that I have ever seen. Thus far in my life.

As a pure white rabbit hops across the meadow, I noticed a young fawn. Coming across the meadow in search of water from my pound. The fawn is beautiful and to watch it drink basking in the glow of the early morning sun. It was enough to make me forget about my plight and take comfort in the image before me.

I think it is a sign of good things to come; I am no longer troubled by this little hiccup of my day. This image has put peace in my heart as I returned to my house to get another cup of tea. Then return to my front porch to enjoy it.

How to Achieve Your New Years Resolutions

thWE1ZQH0EWith a new year comes new promises and changes. As the time passes through the hourglass, we make promises around this time in the esteem of revamping ourselves. Be it losing weight, changing careers, starting a new business. January first means new, new, new.

So many of us make these outlandish promise in the flurry of the new year to ourselves that we are unable to commit to, by the fifteenth we have reverted back to our last year selves completely forgetting about what we so zealously sought after.

Is there a way to ensure that those things that we want so much and fervently try to achieve January first to the fifteenth. What is the different between those who commit, achieve, and surpass their result ion to those that simply give up and give in, is there something that can be quantified so that those of us with weaker constitutions will be successful?

As one of those people that start strong at first then fizzle out towards the of month I have toughly considered these questions and have sought their answers. Although the result was extensive and wide range there seem to be a few ever repeating concepts that seem worthy of being mention. I, myself, plan on implanted this year, and hopefully I will be able to go beyond my own wishes and expectations of myself.

Write it down

This is true for any goals or dreams a person may have and want to achieve. No matter what time of year it is, write down your goal or goals in my case. Put up so that you are able to see what you are working towards each day. Try creating what is called a dream board. Many have find them to be quite useful in their endeavors. As they say, if you can believe, you can achieve it. So write it down, it will manifest itself.

Found a support

There is a reason that teams have designated cheerleaders. Because when the going gets tough, the tough needs a pep squad. Someone or some persons there to reassure and believe in us when we are unable to do it. A person to catch when we fall and say, ok get back up. There is nothing wrong with this. All the greats had someone in their corner pushing and cheering, believing in them when it seem that they will never make it, never get to the end of that road. That road where the ending destination is success.

Have a plan

What is the point of knowing where a treasure is but not the map to get it? It is a waste of time. That is what it is. Do not do this to yourself. Once you have find your passion, determine your dream then plan. Research and plan. Know what you must do, how you must do it, and the time needed to accomplish such a thing. Those that fail to plan, plan to fail.

With these three things no matter if it January 1 or October 7 success can be achieve. Do not think that it will be easy, most things in life worth having are not, but it will show that it is possible. For me that is all I really need.

Which Warehouse Store is the Best for You

untitled (8)It is no secret that shopping at those big warehouse stores will save you a bundle. Buying in bulk is one of the best ways to enjoy great things at an even better price. Here in the United States the most common bulk stores that are Costco and Sam’s Club.

At either one, you are sure to save a whole lot of money on a variety of things, from food, to household products, to high definition televisions and computers. I remember as a child my parents bought our trampoline at a Sam’s Club because one they had it readily available and in stock, two it was the best price for one. They saved at least hundred dollars than if they had went somewhere else.

When considering joining one of these mega discount stores, you must join. For those that don’t know, the only way a person can enjoy these deals and discounted prices is they must be a member of either one. Memberships are forty-five dollars for Sam’s Club and fifty-five dollars for Costco for a year membership. Just pay those small fees and you can shop ‘til you drop!

Now here is the big question which one? Do you go with Sam’s Club the Wal-Mart owned warehouse store or pay an extra ten dollars and roll with Costco?

I have asked my family members these same questions, just out of curiously. They have different reasons for their decision. Some prefer Costco mostly because a better variety of foods for vegetarian and organic choices. Others like Sam’s Club because they feel that they receive the best deals and the best products. Then there are those that have a membership with both stores.

Unable to come up with an apparent winner I decided to check out each store. Compare the prices between the two on commonly purchased items. Thing that I feel everyone would want to save the most money on. Here is what I found out:

High Definition Televisions

Although each did great with their prices when compared to, other stores that sell the brand and size of television. Either store would save you at least a hundred and fifty dollars. However, between the two, it would seem that Sam’s Club is the better choice in this category.

Diapers for Babies and Toddlers

What better to buy in bulk than diapers? I mean these babies seem to just run through them like hot knife through butter. Many mothers and fathers really like to join these type of stores when they start having babies, if you have to buy diapers then why not.

Anyway, it would seem that depending which age group and size you are looking for, will determine where you should go to buy your diapers and save the most dough. It would seem that Sam’s Club offers the best price on toddler size diapers and you would want to shop at Costco for infant size diapers.

Frozen Chicken Breast

Let us not forget that each one of these stores offer a full line of groceries. Let us say you are hosting a party or barbecue, you need to cook for many people, and of course, you are on a budget where do you go? I can tell you. Choose Sam’s Club.

To me I think the best store is the store that you most like. With myself I shop at places that I feel are clean, tidy, pleasant, and the employees are kind and helpful. In the end, I think that is the best determiner. Visit each one, ask for a guest pass, and then decide which place is the best fit for you and your family. All this information is great but nothing surpasses that gut feeling.

Keep it Clean

For many of us we do not even think about having our air-coediting unit serviced. It is not covered in the winter months, or cleaned, or at the very least, the debris knocked off it. summer comes it gets turn on, we are happy and enjoying the coolness, then here comes old man winter and no more air conditioning. Hello dear, dear furnace. Each year this cycle repeats, never once consider all the hard work that air condition unit must put on just to keep you and your family cool in the summer. I know everyone loves their air-coediting unit but I really do not think we properly display it until it all comes crashing downthCEJJMLHF.

Oh yes, let that unit not work during the middle of a July heat wave, one of those hot ones where you can see those wavy lines off the pavement. Yes, let a day like that go by and you cannot turn your air counting on. Boy oh boy will you be upset. In the type of sweltering heat and no air? Crazy!

That is why I always tell people to take care of the air units. Do not let the first time it has an inspection be the day it stops working for you. More times than not that is the day in which it is too late to do anything about it. Expect scrap it and get a new unit installed. Who wants to deal with that bill? I know I do not. Those things are not cheap, trust me.   Depending on what part of the world you are in to not have, one is just not feasible. Just not a possibility.

SO what can you do to make sure that your air conditioning unit turns on this summer and keeps your home or business delightfully cool? Here are a few tips from the expert on what to do to prolong your central air unit’s life, productivity, not to mention reduce the need for any A/C repair.

Keep it clean

This is understood, at least you would think so, but I cannot count the number of units that have burned out due to debris and junk build up. Keep it clean, remove any debris laying on it or near it and power wash it sometimes.

Have it serviced

Just like a car you should not go too long without having your unit inspected ND serviced. This usually includes checking any filters, changing the filters, inspecting hoses and gauges, as well as cleaning and debris removal. It is advised to have this serviced done a minimum of two times a year.

Keep things away from it

Many times people have trees, shrubs, or just junk surrounding their air conditioning unit. What best is to have a leveled gravel spot, with some type of barrier to keep pets and children from playing around it. Keep this area clear of all things, pets, wild animals and people.

Many times these units are destroyed because a child has hit it with a bicycle or motorbike, or something is knock loose by flying objects. Such as balls and rocks. Keep it covered and keep things away!

These a just a few tips there are so many more out there. However, for me, I found that I could manage all three of these suggestions, without it costing me a lot of time and energy. I hope that this will also be something that you can incorporate into your home as well.

Remember, take care of it and it will take care of you!

Greatest Day Ever

thBJVZZGXCOf all the wonderfully thigs I did this year my most cherished memory have to be the time I delivered a baby! Yes an actual person. I aid this new mother in giving birth to a beautiful little boy. He was a big one too, nine pounds and seven ounces. Twenty three inches long. Just gorgeous. What is better they name him after me! Giving him my last name for his first name! Parker James Goldsmith. Is that a beautiful name?

Well let me explain how little old me came about delivering a baby. Really, it was so very unplanned and unexpected. Like most of the greatest moments in my life.

My day started out like any other day, I woke up that morning enjoyed my delightful green smoothie. Then I got in my mildly expensive, hybrid vehicle and off I went to the best place to work in the world. My family’s business. As I was on my way in my father called me to pick up some refreshments. We were having a business meeting that morning and he wanted to give the employees a bit of a treat. I popped into my favorite bakery. All of their treats are one hundred percent organic and vegan. However, they do not sacrifice flavor in hopes of health. They sell all sorts of good treats, doughnuts, cookies, muffins, bagels, cakes, and pastries. Oh, I am getting a bit hungry just thinking about it. Hold on I am going to pop into the kitchen and find myself a snack. Be right back!

Ok I am back. As I was saying, I was on my way to my favorite bakery. As I pull up to it, hoping to find a close parking spot in front, my luck was not with me. So I had was forced to park in the parking garage across the street. I hate parking here because it cost at least eight dollars to park in there. The bakery does validate but I always forget to ask until I am in my car driving out of the parking structure. Then it is too late and I go ahead and pay the fee.

I park my lovely car and kept reminding myself to ask for validation. I make it into the elevator, as I am checking my watch I noticed a woman waddling, I am sorry but there is no other way to describe her movements, trying to catch the elevator. She was looking very uncomfortable I might add, sweating and all. In addition, her face kept cringing and scrunching up every few minutes.

Of course, I am not a dirt bag so I held the elevator for her. As she made her way into it I ask her how far along is she, she said that she thinks she may be in labor. She have been walking trying to help it moved along. When she realizes that she was hungry and decided she needed a double chocolate, banana, peanut butter brownie. She was heading to the same bakery that I was.

We were moving right along when the west things ever happen. First, the nice woman water broke and she was no in full-blown labor. It was astonishing. As soon as her labor for real kicked in the elevator stopped. Yes it just stopped.

All I wanted to do was pick up some sweets for the office.

There I was with this strange woman and she starts to push, unable to keep that little booger in any longer. I called my dad to let him know what was happening and I ask him to call the police as well. Then I got down and tried to catch that baby.

One hour later, the baby and the placenta was out, the emergency people was there and they had managed to get the elevator open.

Quickly they cut the cord and we rushed to the nearby hospital. Where they checked and inspected the mother and her new baby.
